Silver lake (Srebrno jezero) is the one of the largest lakes and summer resorts in Serbia, and the fastest developing one. The lake is about 14 km long, separated from the Danube river by a large island and closed by two dykes. Natural sand filtration keeps the water in the lake clean.
The lake is surrounded by a couple of villages and the charming town of Veliko Gradište. Together with the Danube (the lake was once part of it), several monasteries and fortresses and the Djerdap national park, the area offers a unique variety of tourist attractions, and possibilities for an active holiday, among others swimming and water sports, fishing, hiking and biking, bird-watching, yachting, jet-ski riding, etc.
Despite being one of the largest and most popular summer destinations in Serbia, Silver lake is not overcrowded, unlike some other destinations.
Location
Silver lake is located in Eastern Serbia, across the Danube from the Rumanian border, about 30km from the city of Požarevac.
